Makefast is a family-run British engineering business — not a reseller, not a trading house. For over fifty years we have designed and manufactured precision metal hardware in our own facility in Mid Wales, supplying the global marine safety industry and, today, defence and tactical OEMs.

Makefast Opens Its Doors
Founded in Hampshire, on the River Hamble. Early products included a press-fit ring and turnover for sailmakers and a stainless steel canopy fitting range that replaced gun-metal alternatives. Within two years, Makefast was producing buckles and rings for the lifejacket market — the foundation of today's safety hardware range.

Manufacturing Moves to Newtown, Powys
Makefast relocated to Newtown, Powys in Mid Wales and expanded into a full modern manufacturing operation, adding sunroofs, awnings and carbon poles for power boats while continuing to design and manufacture safety and canopy products in-house.
- 1994
TA France Established
TA France SARL is set up with Jean-Pierre and Jacques Kerzhero of Alfamar to distribute Makefast products and a wider marine range across France.
- 2015
Makefast Italia Founded
Makefast Italia SRL opens to serve the Italian marine industry, supplying sunroofs, awnings and the wider Makefast catalogue.
- 2020
CMD — Custom Marine Developments
CMD Ltd. is inaugurated to handle bespoke design and manufacturing for the yacht and superyacht industries — anchor handlers, bathing platforms and one-off engineered solutions.
- 2022
Makefast USA Opens
Makefast USA LLC opens in Maryland, servicing North American customers across the full Makefast product range.
